“Yes, many of the released Palestinians are bad, seen with Israeli eyes”

“Israel could have 1.000 new prisoners tomorrow”

Published 18-10-2011 on Berlingske.dk

The head of the Danish-Palestinian Friendship Association Fathi El-Abed asks that we remember, because of the majority of the news is concerned about Gilad Shalit, that all the released prisoners are fathers, mothers, brothers or sons of someone, and they are terribly missed in both Gaza and the West Bank.

“Yes, many of the released Palestinians are bad, seen with Israeli eyes. But remember that Israeli soldiers also have killed a lot of Palestinians in the course of time.”

No one mentions the fact that some of the Palestinians released took part in attacks numbering hundreds of fatalities and thousands of casualties, including the Sbarro suicide bombing, the café Hillel bombing, the Dolphinarium suicide bombing, the Passover massacre, the Hebrew University bombing and many of the bus-bombing incidents. Certainly you would expect the head of the friendship association to denounce violence and murder against and on civilians? No.

On the contrary, Fathi El-Abed gives an interview on DR where he explains how emotional it is for the thousands of Palestinian families to receive the prisoners, and that it fantastic to see.

“Many of these families, mothers and fathers, haven’t seen their children in ages. Some of the prisoners have spent 20 and 25 years [in jail], so it’s a great joy for them, and in general for the whole Palestinian society”

He adds that the conflict is between two countries and two people, one an occupier and one a resistance movement.

“Luckily it isn’t the Israelis that decide, who are terrorists, and who are not. If the released [prisoners] can really be called terrorists, there are thousands of Israeli soldiers, who should be held responsible for terrorism”

Fathi El-Abed concludes the interview by saying that he ‘unfortunately’ must agree with those who say that Israel is gearing up for another war in the Middle East, this time against Iran – quickly adding that this would ‘of course’ happen with the help of the US.

Fathi El-Abed has previously remarked that the three Israelis who were shot in the mall Rosengårdscentret in Odense, was provoking the Danish-Palestinian shooter with ‘huge Stars of David’. The shooter is serving a 10-year sentence now.

DR-expert implies Israel at fault for stalled peace process

Deadline is a daily studio show focusing on today’s news with ‘experienced hosts’ and guest experts.

On 23/09/2011 they hosted a show focusing on the Middle East conflict. Helle Malmvig, an expert with remarkable credentials like a P.hD in the Middle East and a position as Senior Researcher at the Danish Institute of International Studies was invited.

Her answer to why the peace process had been stalled for so many years, and why Mahmoud Abbas went to the UN was:

“The Palestinians have for 18 years tried negotiating, without getting anywhere.”

With such statement, she heavily implies that Israel is at fault, and that the State of Israel has offered the Palestinians no decent offers at all. Israel has offered the Palestinians peace, publicly, 31 times. The ‘expert’ did not mention neither peace offers of the last decade. Not Barak’s offer. Not Olmert’s offer.
