The Danish filmmaker Lars Von Trier, creator of popular films Dogville, Dancer in the Dark, Antichrist, The Idiots etc. has been included on the annually Simon Wiesenthal Center list of top 10 anti-Semitic remarks, Lars von Trier was rambling about Jews and Nazi Germany at the prestigious Cannes festival this year.

“”The only thing I can tell you is that I thought I was a Jew for a long time and was very happy being a Jew, then later on came [Danish and Jewish director] Susanne Bier, and suddenly I wasn’t so happy about being a Jew. That was a joke. Sorry. But it turned out that I was not a Jew. If I’d been a Jew, then I would be a second-wave Jew, a kind of a new-wave Jew, but anyway, I really wanted to be a Jew and then I found out that I was really a Nazi. Because my family was German… which also gave me some pleasure. So I’m kind of a… What can I say? I understand Hitler. But I think he did some wrong things, yes absolutely, but I can see him sitting in his bunker. But there will come a point, at the end of this… I’m just saying, I think I understand the man. He’s not what you would call a good guy, but yeah, I understand much about him and I sympathize with him a little bit. But come on, I’m not for the Second World War, and I’m not against Jews… I am of course, very much for Jews. No, not too much, because Israel is a pain in the ass. But still, how can I get out of this sentence? No, I just want to say about the art, I’m very much for Speer. Albert Speer, I liked. He was also maybe one of God’s best children. He had some talent that was kind of possible for him to use… okay, I’m a Nazi.”"

Danish Foreign Minister Villy Søvndal stresses in this article that Denmark

“will not enter negotiations with kidnappers, we won’t”

Funny thing is, just a week ago Villy Søvndal said that he viewed the deal as a good deal, and that it fostered trust between the Israeli government and the Palestinians.

“It is really good news, and I’m happy that the deal moreover than the face of it’s content, also can be seen as an important trust-creating step from the Israeli government’s side in regards to the peace process in general”

So… He expects the Israel government to hand over terrorists responsible for hundreds and hundreds of dead Israeli victims, and at the same time he won’t even negotiate with simple kidnappers whose waters are being over fished for hundreds of millions USD and whose waters are being used as a dump for the rest of the world, Somalis are not responsible for more than a dozen of dead citizens of western countries

Oh, the double standards Villy. Once again.

Published 24-11-2011 – Ritzau

Ritzau once again (again, again?) perpetuates the myth about a so-called ship of activists from Turkey. In this article, other than the details about Israel’s offer of help to Turkey’s quake-victims, they say:

The relationship between the two countries has been very tense, since the Israeli commando soldiers last year boarded a Turkish ship with Pro-Palestinian activists. They wanted to bring aid to the Gaza Strip, which is under Israeli blockade. Nine of the ship’s Turkish members were killed.

Ritzau continues their biased cover with the following paragraph:

“Turkey suspended all trade in the defense industry with the Israelis as a reaction to a new UN-report about the attack.”

Not a word about the Turkish members of the ship being radical islamists and a part of an extremist organization raising money for Hamas.

Not a word about the Israeli soldiers being hit by iron bars, attacked with knives or faced any kind of deadly violence.

Not a word about the pathetic losers on the boats with slogans like “To Gaza with love” bringing outdated medicine.

Not a word about the fact that the UN-report vindicated and exonerated Israel of wrongdoing.

Ritzau continues as we know them.

“Israel could have 1.000 new prisoners tomorrow”

Published 18-10-2011 on Berlingske.dk

The head of the Danish-Palestinian Friendship Association Fathi El-Abed asks that we remember, because of the majority of the news is concerned about Gilad Shalit, that all the released prisoners are fathers, mothers, brothers or sons of someone, and they are terribly missed in both Gaza and the West Bank.

“Yes, many of the released Palestinians are bad, seen with Israeli eyes. But remember that Israeli soldiers also have killed a lot of Palestinians in the course of time.”

No one mentions the fact that some of the Palestinians released took part in attacks numbering hundreds of fatalities and thousands of casualties, including the Sbarro suicide bombing, the café Hillel bombing, the Dolphinarium suicide bombing, the Passover massacre, the Hebrew University bombing and many of the bus-bombing incidents. Certainly you would expect the head of the friendship association to denounce violence and murder against and on civilians? No.

On the contrary, Fathi El-Abed gives an interview on DR where he explains how emotional it is for the thousands of Palestinian families to receive the prisoners, and that it fantastic to see.

“Many of these families, mothers and fathers, haven’t seen their children in ages. Some of the prisoners have spent 20 and 25 years [in jail], so it’s a great joy for them, and in general for the whole Palestinian society”

He adds that the conflict is between two countries and two people, one an occupier and one a resistance movement.

“Luckily it isn’t the Israelis that decide, who are terrorists, and who are not. If the released [prisoners] can really be called terrorists, there are thousands of Israeli soldiers, who should be held responsible for terrorism”

Fathi El-Abed concludes the interview by saying that he ‘unfortunately’ must agree with those who say that Israel is gearing up for another war in the Middle East, this time against Iran – quickly adding that this would ‘of course’ happen with the help of the US.

Fathi El-Abed has previously remarked that the three Israelis who were shot in the mall Rosengårdscentret in Odense, was provoking the Danish-Palestinian shooter with ‘huge Stars of David’. The shooter is serving a 10-year sentence now.

Published 16-10-2011 by Ritzau and Reuters on TV2.

The article mentions known details, and in the end brings a quote from the Foreign Minister Villy Søvndal (SF). It reads:

It is really good news, and I’m happy that the deal moreover than the face of it’s content, also can be seen as an important trust-creating step from the Israeli government’s side in regards to the peace process in general”

Seems like he doesn’t dedicate too many thoughts much to those 1000-some victims and 20.000 injured in the Second Intafada. Another possibility is that he simply is not aware of the fact that almost half of the prisoners are terrorists convicted for murder and terrorism – I doubt that possibility though.

Seems like we’re playing the blame game again, Villy.

Hamas and Israel reaches deal on prisoners

Published on bt.dk – 11.10.2011

The news article includes nothing else but a short paragraph reading:

“Hamas and Israel agrees on a prisoner exchange, which includes the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who was taken as prisoner by militant Palestinians in 2006

While I am not totally sure of the exact semantic meaning of the word “prisoner”, it is certainly ‘problematic’ that no distinction is made between Hamas-captive Shalit, and the Palestinian prisoners. As long as Hamas is a non-state actor, Hamas holds no people imprisoned with same legal authority as Israel or any other sovereign state does. Gilad Shalit was kidnapped, and is being held contrary to international law, with not even Red Cross allowed to see him.

On the contrary, the people Israel has imprisoned includes everything from rock-throwers to mass-murders and people connected to the planning of terrorism against Israeli civilians, Jews, Muslims and Christians alike. The Palestinian prisoners’ biggest concerns are satellite TV, whole chicken and visits without handcuff.

Published 10-10-2011 in Jyllandsposten’s Online news site.

Christian Juhl, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs for Red-Green Alliance first writes in this article that:

“It is none of my business, who the Palestinians choose as their political leaders, just like it is none of my business who the Israelis choose as political leader.”

He goes on to explain that:

“Many bourgeois danish politicians think, that it is the Palestinian, who are the aggressors, and that it is the Israelis who are threatened. They suppress ,that it is the Israelis who are the occupiers, and it is the Israelis who have built a wall and have hundreds of thousands of settlers on Palestinian ground.”

All contrary to international law, and condemned many times in the UN.

He then goes on explaining that if the European Union fails, Denmark must recognize a Palestinian state themselves, as the other Nordic countries will do.

Lately there have been a number of news which I have simply failed to find in the Danish news press. You may ask yourself what would have happened in case Israel threatened to ‘shower’ Damascus with rockets and missiles. One can only dream about the hypocrites’ reaction in the Western World if Israel threatened to ‘set fire to the Middle East’ and threatened to wage war against US warships and European targets.

Assad threatened Tel Aviv and other major cities with a shower of missiles and rockets. Not reported.

You may ask yourself what would happen in the media if Red Cross had hidden a Jewish terrorist like Baruch Goldstein.

Red Cross hiding Hamas members. Not reported.

One can only dream about the reactions of the international community if Israel imposed such a major measure on press freedom as Hamas does.

Journalists needs Hamas-sponsors in Gaza. Not reported.

But it is reported when Israel refuses refugees to return? Strikingly logical!

Palestinian Ambassador says Palestinian refugees won’t get citizenship in Palestinian state. Not reported.

Published 27.09.2011 by Information. Originally brought on The Guardian.co.uk

Highlights in bold.

Qusra – The settlers comes down the hill, often on foot, but sometimes also on horse back, in tractors or SUV’s. They have Israeli flags with them, and sometimes also rifles, spades and dogs. They can be down to three, and up to fourty. They taunt the local villagers, and several times they have attacked them. It also happens the Israeli army arrives and test shoot their weapon in the villagers direction. In the Arab village Qusra on one of the West Bank’s terrace-shaped hills the fear rises:

“The settlers provokes us all the time. They pull up our olive trees, kill our sheep, burn down our mosques and curse our prophet. They want to pull us into a sphere of violence. But we we do not want to be pulled in there, says Hani Abu Reidi, leader of the village”

Meanwhile the Palestinian hope of statehood seems to be disbanded to the back premises of the diplomats for weeks and months, the tension rises in the land areas, which are the core of the conflict. Palestinian villagers and Jewish settlers accuse the other for an increasing number of attacks, mostly smaller episodes such as rock-throwing, Molotov cocktails and insults.

Both claim, that the other is preparing to invade the others local society and attack their people. This has caused an environment of fear and threats, that warns direly about the diplomatic process that may be followed by battles and escalating violence.

Friday last week ended in violence between the settlers from the ‘outpost’ ESH Kodesh and about 300 villagers from before-mentioned Qusra in a fog of tear gas and fire, which Israeli soldiers fired against the village. Issam Odeh, a 33-year old father to eight, was hit by two deadly bullets.

Earlier this month, Qusra formed a self-defense committee, after one of the villagers four mosques was destroyed under a settler attack, twenty men patrols, unarmed, around the mosques from 8 in the evening till 6 in the morning, and Abu Reidi claims that they have already prevented at least one attack. Other Palestinian villages followed suit.

On the hilltops the preparations to clashes have been underway for weeks. The security around the settlements and ‘outposts’ have been increased with extra wire fence, surveillance cameras, guards and dogs. And the settlers have armed themselves and stays ready to react on an expected intrusion from Palestinian, who are determined to complete a specific geographical realization of that state, they long for.

Women mobilizes

One of the settler movement’s websites, Arutz Sheva, shows photos of women from the outpost Pnei Kedem, that learns to shoot. In Shimon Hatzadik, a Jewish enclave in the Palestinian Sheikh Jarrah-neighborhood in East Jerusalem, the settlers adhere to a law, which allows self-defense against unwanted guests.

“We’re talking about shooting at their legs, but does it not work, and our lives are endangered, we will not be afraid of shooting directly at them. Most of the citizens here are armed”, the spokesperson Yehonatan Yosef states. The settlers fear, that the army will hamper the soldiers in fear of negative reputation.

“They do not receive the correct orders” says the radical activist Ittamar Ben-Gurion from Qiryat Arba.

“There exists no state in the world, which would allow the enemy to cross its borders and intrude into its local society. If the army of Israel will not act correctly, we have to defend ourselves.”

“Also women and children will have to participate in the defensive actions”, he says.

“We want to put the calculation like this: Women against women, and children against children. The Arabs intend to use their children, so we will not sit idly by.”

Other than the fights on the ground, many settlers think that they have to lead a political fight against the Israeli government.

“Netanyahu is a weak leader, who does not dare to stand up for the values he was elected on” Says Goldstein.

“His settlement freeze was the first in history, and that’s from a right-politician! So therefore we have to pressure him to hold the line.”

The settlers do not only fight to keep the land they have already taken, they also intend to expand and demand further land, which they believe God has given them the right to.

“Our goal is to build new cities and local societies, new outposts in Judea and Samaria” says the veteran activist Daniella Weiss. “It is our role as Jews to build the the Jews’ country”

In Qusra, Abu Reidi agrees that the conflict about land is the central in the confrontation betweeen Jewish settlers and Palestinian villagers.

“It is their ultimate goal to expel us from our land” he says.

“To defend it is our holy duty, for if they succeed, they will just take more and more.”
